Why is it a good practice example? The project is dedicated to people in wheelchairs as well as to parents with small children in pushchairs.

Since this is one of the most important sanctuaries in Poland it hosts many visitors each day including a large number of PRMs and the special infrastructure contributes to easier access to the sanctuary.
Background and Objectives / Aims The idea to build the Basilica including the infrastructure for PRMs was initiated by church authorities.

The Basilica stands in a place with a long history and hosts a miraculous image of the Mother of God. This is a reason that many people go on a pilgrimage to this place, among others many people with different kinds of disabilities. That is why it was decided to build infrastructure suitable for people with reduced mobility which includes; a driveway (with several curves and very low slope that wheelchair users can use without assistance), elevators inside the sanctuary and three receptions with wheelchair rental places (the rental is free of charge, but it is not possible to reserve a wheelchair). There is also signage for locating the elevators and rental places.
Implementation (incl. obstacles, public participation) There were no obstacles in implementing the project.
Conclusions (incl. output, analysis of benefits) This infrastructure is on demand since the sanctuary is mostly visited by older people, very often in wheelchairs, that is why it is used on a daily basis.
